Composer Bio

New-York-based composer Mark Kim-Mulgrew builds common grounds in seemingly disparate ideas, pursuing clarity relentlessly in his works. Mark’s music has been performed by the Texas New Music Ensemble, the Mostly Modern Ensemble, the Soundbox Camerata, the Berlin Academy of American Music, and pianist Yeontaek Oh. Mark’s debut album of chamber music Practical Considerations was released in November 2025. Mark is currently studying in the studio of Reiko Füting at the Manhattan School of Music and has studied composition and theory privately with Timo Andres, Conrad Cummings, and Ruka Shironishi. Outside of music, Mark trained as a mathematician and a science writer and works as a software engineer. (107 words)
